Pilot Project
Summer 2009 Pilot Project:
“Kids Make Hip Hop with Souljerz Crew”
Selected students from Public Schools in Queens will work with Carlos Cordova from Souljerz Crew to learn new hip hop skills, review and improve on moves they already know, and create their own moves and movement sequences to create a new dance or dances to be performed in a NYC location. The structure of the lessons, provided by Carlos Cordova and Kathleen Isaac will weave hip hop history into personal life experiences for each dancer, and Doug Fox will teach students how to use the Internet and social media to conduct research and share videos and photographs they shoot during their practices and performances. Doug, Kathleen and Carlos will work collaboratively with students as they learn, explore, create, document and share the process of creation and their final dances.
